In the beginning, the producers wanted the main character of the sitcom to be called Sally. However, Reba eventually managed to convince them to use her name instead. She knew that she would be able to convince her loyal fans to watch the show this way. Melissa Peterman was cast to play Barbara, the nemesis who was the mistress of Reba’s husband. Although they displayed animosity in front of the cameras, Reba and Melissa are actually best friends offscreen!

Reba McEntire did not forget about her music career, however. In 2003, she made a spectacular comeback with her 76th single. Meanwhile, her 23rd album AKA Room to Breathe climbed to the top spot of the charts upon its release. In 2007, she was honored for becoming the female artist with the most nominations in CMA history. You read that right, she even surpassed Dolly Parton! The following year, she started touring with fellow country musician Kelly Clarkson. Reba was back in the scene, much to everyone’s relief. She was about to venture into other industries, however.
