Long Buried
It did not look like the structure had been used by the previous owners of the land. There was some wear and tear there, although this was pretty much expected of a place that has not been maintained in half a century. At any rate, it looked good for its age. The place was empty, so John and his pals tried to figure out what purpose it served. On the blueprints, they knew that Whitaker Pools built this structure. However, it was clearly not a swimming pool. It was something else entirely.
A Historical Find
Who would have ever thought that there was a nuclear fallout shelter down there? The structure was built during the Cold War when tensions between the Soviet Union and the US were at an all-time high. Back then, mass paranoia had been on the rise, which led to the construction of numerous bomb shelters. Whitaker Pools actually expanded their services by offering something people thought they needed in that day and age. They started building bomb shelters on top of backyard swimming pools. John started to look more into the history of the structure, but he was not the only one.
