Shopko

Initially, Shopko announced that they had planned to close about 70% of their stores by May, but they, later on, retracted their statement and said in fact, all their stores would be shut down for good.  In January, Shopko filed for bankruptcy and anticipated a more positive outcome from a potential buyer. Sadly, a buyer was not located and as of now, they’re trying to eliminate all their products and close all stores by June this year.

Gap

Within the next two years, Gap Inc. is planning the closure of approximately 230 of its stores around the world. The company has strategized to rebrand Old Navy (the sister company of Gap), to become more of a separate corporation. This because Old Navy has exceeded sales compared to both GAP and the Banana Republic. Even though, stores such as s such as Intermix, Athlete, Hill City, Banana Republic, and Gap stores are still operating they will continue to function under the brand name NewCo.
