An office supplier wholesaler, Office Depot just fell with a 7% decrease in profits to $10.2 billion in 2017. Rather than concentrate on retail sales primarily, CEO Gerry Smith announced they’ll also begin to offer more services. The move has already lifted the top-line of the company. Office Depot also gives a business-to-business service, a subscription system called “BizBox.”

Vitamin Shoppe has several comparable issues to GNC. They have recovered their e-commerce business and now have a subscription program in the workplace to repair these problems. During 2017, its top-of-the-line income dropped to $1.2 billion, down 8.5 percent. The reduction in the popularity of the malls, as well as the growth in the number of rivals, is the reason why Vitamin Shoppe is in this pickle today. We can only hope that expanding their ranges, launching distribution services, and doing marketing events will assist them to get out of the mess.
