Seattle, Washington
Let’s now focus on large cities which have had significant growth in the past couple of years. An increase of 22% since 2010 may not seem huge if you compare it to what other cities on this list have managed to pull off, but it’s a big accomplishment for Seattle, considering its size. This beloved Pacific Northwest metropolis was the only city that had over 500,000 residents in Stacker’s top 30 fastest-growing American cities over the past decade. With a long-term 5.27% unemployment rate and the average age of residents at 35.2, Seattle is still a great place for those who are young and trying to find a career.
Miami, Florida
No large city on the entire East Coast has had faster growth than Miami these past few years. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, its growth is the second fastest among large cities in America after its population increased by 1.25% between 2017 and 2018. However, Miami still somehow feels like a smaller city, with fewer than 500,000 people calling it home (for now). It also has unbeatable weather, endless entertainment options, a world-class nightlife, and a vibrant immigrant community. There are definitely plenty to love about this colorful city.
