San Diego

Once home to the San Diego Chargers of the NFL, SDCCU can hold up to 70,000 fans, short for the San Diego County Credit Union that purchased the naming rights, but San Diego State is struggling to fill even half the seats. Not only does the stadium lack a fan atmosphere, but in terms of concessions and amenities, it’s also mediocre. It opened in 1967 and was called Jack Murphy Stadium for many years, and then Qualcomm Stadium. Some fans just call it “tired.”

Perhaps it fits the home of Mean Green: Apogee Stadium is one of the only LEED-certified stadiums in the nation. Opened in 2011, it’s relatively new, but North Texas has struggled to find its venue position. Although their overall season records had improved since 2015, when they went a dismal 1 and 11, the Mean Green lost more than half their home games. But the team barely draws 20,000 per game, and there are pits in the parking lot.
