It didn’t make sense to Tom. Why would someone just happen to walk through the exact spot where he was growing his carrots? His garden was small, but it was fenced off, offering no easy access to anyone passing by. He had owned the property for about ten years, so the ring couldn’t have belonged to a previous owner. Tom was certain the ring hadn’t been buried there for that long—it didn’t add up. The more he thought about it, the stranger and more inexplicable it seemed.
