As soon as Disney’s animated film Peter Pan premiered in 1953, audiences were greeted by the on-screen antagonist Captain Hook. Did you know he has a first name as well as the last name? Captain James Hook is his given name. He is the swashbuckling, bloodthirsty captain of the Jolly Roger, a ship known for its swashbuckling and bloodthirsty captain. He is hell-bent on exacting vengeance on Peter Pan, who he believes cut off his hand and fed it to a crocodile as punishment. As a result, the name “Hook” was given.
