A Commoner
Before Diana and Charles got married in 1981, a British citizen hadn’t married an heir to the throne since 1660. Diana wouldn’t be the last commoner, either. Prince William’s wife – the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was a commoner as well. Not to mention, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, was also a commoner.
Longest Train
Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel for Alexander McQueen. It was embellished with 10,000 pearls and had a 25-foot train. This is the longest train in royal history. The Princess accessorized the gown with an 18th-century heirloom tiara, a 153-yard veil, and silk shoes that had 542 sequins and 132 pearls.
