In the movie, Sandra Bullock portrayed the role of a guardian figure in the form of Leigh Ann Tuohy, who instilled in him a love for football. Tuohy certainly played a role in shaping the athletic star, though he did not actually receive all of his training and in-game knowledge from her. It seems like the director milked the relationship between the mentor and the mentee in order to make it more ready for Hollywood. It appears that the director did not discuss what it actually took Oher to achieve his goals. For Mike, the film did him a disservice by glossing over the effort and hard work necessary to reach all of his goals.

One reason The Blind Side was so great was Sandra Bullock’s standout performance. She even brought home a Golden Globe and Oscar for it! This is perhaps why it is so surprising to learn that she was initially doubtful about accepting the part. The award-winning actress had been offered the role numerous times but she declined as she was not enthusiastic about playing a devout Christian. Meeting Leigh Anne Tuohy in real life changed her mind, however. She finally accepted the part after the introduction, but it is interesting to find out who the other options were.
