Throughout the years, a few other surprising high-profile figures have come out of the wood works and express their love for Blazing Saddles. One of these figuers was actually none other than the former President Obama. A few years ago, he gave a prolific speech honoring Brooks as a Kennedy Center Honoree, and mentioned how he loved seeing Blazing Saddles at the age of 13.  Brooks being the comedian that he is, asked how Obama got into the film,  as he was underage. Obama hilariously replied  “I think I had a fake ID.”

When Mel was searching for a vocalist for the movie’s theme song, he didn’t want to tell them that Blazing Saddles was actually a comedy spoof production. Instead he told the theme song performer Frankie Laine that Blazing Saddles was actually a drama. The reason is that he wanted Frankie to believe it was a dramatic western movie and sing it with more conviction.
