Did you know that Dawn Wells was actually crowned Miss Nevada in 1959? Winning the title helped the aspiring star secure a scholarship to attend the University of Washington where she studied theater. Once she graduated, Wells moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career. Though she wanted to act more than anything, she hoped to not just become another pretty face in Hollywood. Thus besides being conventionally attractive, Wells worked hard and remained focused in order to reach her goals of fame.

Initially, Wells was intimidated by her costar since Tina Louise was a real big-time film star. When starting on the show, Dawn Wells was not very well known. Once Wells got past her fear, she and Tina got quite close. In fact, Dawn Wells is friends with Louise’s daughter now on social media. Aw, a lasting friendship!
