The Jesus Cloth

Real or not, it’s a piece of history. The Shroud of Turin is a cloth with the imprinted image of Jesus Christ. It seems to have blood stains on it too. The cloth was first displayed at a French exhibition in 1357. Today, carbon-dating tests have confirmed that the cloth dates back between the years 1260 and 1390. Experts agree that forgers created it to make an extra buck or two.

The Sacrificial Sport

Many of us don’t know the origin of certain sports. What about the source of soccer and basketball? A game called “pok ta pok” was sort of like the two sports together. The ancient Mesoamerican population would play each-other until a team lost. When the team lost they would choose a player whom they would behead and sacrifice. The head of a sacrificed player would then sometimes be used as the ball for an extra round, you know, for fun.
