Pee Wee steals the show

Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, had a pretty bad year. See in 1991 he was caught performing some salacious acts in public. Therefore his show was canned and his toys pulled from the shelves. Then he appeared at the ’91 VMAs and immediately showed the crowd his self-deprecating humor, thus winning everyone back over again.
