Saban had numerous jobs at the college level, and went on to become the first coach of the Boston Patriots in the AFL in 1960. Later he joined the Buffalo Bills and led the team to consecutive AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. He became the head coach of the Denver Broncos in 1967, where he remained for five years.
