Don Coryell
Don Coryell coached in the NFL first with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1973 to 1977 and then with the San Diego Chargers from 1978 to 1986. He was well known for his innovations to football’s passing offense. His offense was commonly known as “Air Coryell”. He was also the first coach out there to ever win more than 100 games at both the collegiate and professional level. He was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame in 1986 and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. The Professional Football Researchers Association named Coryell to the PRFA Hall of Very Good Class of 2010.
Lawrence T. Buck Shaw
As the coach of Santa Clara, he compiled an impressive 47–10–4 record. In 1937 and 1938, his teams even had back-to-back Sugar Bowl wins over LSU. After the war-time service, he served as the head football coach at the University of California, where he compiled a 4–5–1 record. Shaw was also the San Francisco 49ers’ first head coach in the old All-America Football Conference and continued to hold that position from 1950 through 1954. After two seasons (1956–1957) as the first Air Force Academy Varsity head coach, he returned to the NFL.
