Think back to 2000, when Remember The Titans first came out (in VHS no less), and let nostalgia fill the depths of your bones. From scene one, Remember The Titans reached out and mesmerized each and every one of us. Based on a true story, we watch as a high school football team integrates whites and blacks and not only forms lasting friendships but opens one’s mind to the racial tensions that gripped an era. Come with us as we stroll down memory lane and take a look at what the cast of the film are up to now.
Denzel Washington as Coach Herman Boone
Does Denzel Washington really need an introduction? Not likely. Considered one of Hollywood’s greatest actors, earning three Golden Globe awards, a Tony Award, and two Academy Awards; Denzel also is a seriously skilled director and producer.
Will Patton as Assistant Coach Bill Yoast
Assistant Coach Bill Yoast quickly unfolded as a fan favorite and off screen, he’s just as remarkable. Will Patton has starred in hit films like Armageddon, Gone in 60 Seconds, and The Punisher. Aside from acting, he’s also a voice actor and has two Obie Awards under his belt.
Wood Harris as DE Julius Campbell
Forever loved as the one and only Julius Campbell but always remembered as the drug kingpin Avon Barksdale from the crime drama The Wire and as the cocaine dealer Ace in Paid in Full. Currently, Wood Harris stars as Barry Fouray on the VH1 miniseries The Breaks.
Ryan Hurst as LB Gerry Bertier
We’ll always hold a special place in our hearts for Gerry Bertier, always. His character was one that spoke volumes because he showed us the capacity to gain a new understanding. Ryan Hurst is the man behind the character who has gone on to star in some pretty spectacular films and television shows. Such as Opie Winston in the drama series Sons of Anarchy, Tom Clark in Taken, and as Chick in Bates Motel.
Donald Faison as RB Petey Jones
Dr. Turk is up next, ladies and gents! We loved him as Petey in Remember the Titans and even more so as Dr. Chris Turk on the brilliant comedy-drama Scrubs. Faison is currently host of the TBS comedy sketch show Who Gets the Last Laugh, and also the GSN game show Winsanity.
Ethan Suplee as OL Louie Lastik
In 2011, Ethan Suplee had everyone talking when he featured on TMZ on TV and spoke about his 200 pound weight loss! Aside from his role on Remember the Titans, Suplee also starred in American History X, Boy Meets World, My Name Is Earl, and The Wolf of Wall Street. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
Nicole Ari Parker as Carol Boone, Herman Boone’s wife
Nicole Ari Parker may have had a small role in Remember the Titans but no small role is ever not significant; it was her role that struck a cord with most fans. Since then, she’s carried on acting and is married with two children.
Kip Pardue as QB Ronnie “Sunshine” Bass
“Sunshine” is still an actor and model, with his latest role in American Fable and the television show Outcast. Most noteworthy is that he was discovered by Molly Ringwald’s publicist while playing football for Yale University.
Earl C. Poitier as OL Darryl “Blue” Stanton
“Blue” is actually a classically trained trombonist and saxophonist – makes sense! Poitier did receive a B.A. in Music Education from The University of Tampa but afterwards, he fully committed to a career in acting instead. His most recent works is in Baywatch, Shots Fired, and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
Ryan Gosling as Linebacker Alan Bosley
We’re gonna go out on a limb and assume you know just about everything when it comes the dashing Ryan Gosling. Aside from acting, he’s also a musician, director, philanthropist, husband to actress Eva Mendes with whom he has two daughters with.
Kate Bosworth as Emma Hoyt – Gerry’s girlfriend
Kate Bosworth’s role in Remember the Titans was just the start of what then launched into a spectacular career. With roles in Blue Crush, Wonderland, Beyond the Sea, Superman Returns, Straw Dogs, and Still Alice – Bosworth is well on her way to creating a lasting legacy.
Gregory Alan Williams as Coach Paul Doc Hines, Offensive Line Coach
Gregory Alan Williams is actually best remembered for his role as Garner Ellerbee in Baywatch! Williams has starred in countless films and shows that we don’t have time to name them all but we will say that he’s also a published author of four books.
Burgess Jenkins as TE Ray Budds
Best known for his work as Ray Budds in Remember the Titans and The Reaping, Burgess Jenkins is up next. Since 2000, in fact, he’s held roles in numerous television shows and films, including Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, Nashville, and The Young and the Restless.
Brett Rice as Coach Herb Tyrell, Special Teams Coach
Tennessee born, Brett Rice joined a friend one day at the local theater to wait as he auditioned for some show. While Rice waited, the director came up and asked if he wanted to audition so he did. He actually landed a role and from that moment on – the theater became his whole world. Rice’s latest work is in Sully, Snowfall, Lethal Weapon, and so on.
Craig Kirkwood as QB Jerry Rev Harris
Rev actually retired from acting back in 2006 and is now a lawyer in California after he gradated from Loyola Law School in 2008. You might recognize him from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sister, Sister, and Hounded.
Hayden Panettiere as Sheryl Yoast, Bill Yoast’s 10-year-old daughter
Actress, model, singer, and activist (wife and mother too!) – Hayden Panettiere is a jack of all trades. We won’t bore you with a list of all her accolades but let’s just say that are MANY.
