The coins were minted in the year A.D. 31. The majority of the coins unearthed on the site, however, date from the year A.D. They assumed the road was built before that because it was 40 years old or later. Ariel explained that it was constructed before the year A.D. 40 or “in other words, only in the time of Pilate.”
