They got rid of the iron grille and saw that it was hiding a hole that was big enough for a small kid to go through. What was truly shocking was the fact that there was a chapel-like cellar on the other side! Historians said that the room must have come from the 1700s. It was probably used as a secret church when Catholics were getting executed and persecuted in England.

Hidden Room
Here is yet another example of an interesting find. In 1963, a man had been renovating his house when he brought down a wall and found a hidden room. This is already exciting enough, but he was even more thrilled to find one after another. It turned out that he had just discovered an entire underground city. Derinkuyu is one of the most incredible archaeological discoveries during the 20th century. It was an ancient city made up of underground tunnels that the Hittites called home.
