You Have To Wait
If you want to try and grow lilacs, you should not feel discouraged when they do not bloom right away. You have to be patient with these plants. You see, there could be as long as three years between the initial planting and the first blooms. There is nothing to worry about if you just take good care of them.
Follow Three Seasonal Rules
Do not worry. It is not required to be a horticulturist to take care of these bushes. As a matter of fact, there are only three seasonal rules that you need to follow. When winter rolls in, add a bit of fertilizer if they look malnourished. In spring, you should add a fresh pile of compost. Lastly, you should give them a splash of water every week when it gets too hot in the summer.
