Macy’s is one of the biggest department stores to announce a series of closures in the coming years. The firm announced in January that 45 locations would close permanently in 2021. The closures are part of a bigger strategy by Macy’s to eliminate 125 locations by 2023, limiting its presence to high-end shopping malls, according to CNBC.

Bed Bath & Beyond
Following the closure of 200 shops last year, Bed Bath & Beyond expects to eliminate another 200 stores in 2021. According to USA Today, another 43 locations will close permanently by the end of February. The closures would occur in 19 jurisdictions, nine of which would be in California.
