Even if they were unable to locate the mother or father, it was still crucial for them to proceed carefully. There are some animals that abandon their young when they come into contact with people. Nonetheless, some parents will become violent when defending their children. This situation appeared to be one of abandonment.

The researchers could not believe that the animals had lived for so long when they were allowed to examine the puppies. After all, they could see that the sewer was clogged with trash and debris.
