It was obvious that Musya wanted the eight hedgehog babies to be mothered by her. Alice did not think it was a good idea, even though she was amazed. The kittens could, after all, get hurt by their siblings’ pricks from another animal. Again, she broke them up, but the hedgehogs resisted her attempt to feed them in the bottle.

Although Alice realized that holding the animals together was not a good idea, Musya decided to take care of all the babies. Alice eventually discovered, not long after this, where the hedgehogs came from. Maybe their mom got into an accident inside the zoo. She remembered a particular instance involving a lawnmower.
