The ‘British-Only’ Rule Was Waived Twice
Only Austin Powers star Verne Troyer, whose American accent was dubbed over, and Eleanor Columbus, the director’s daughter, who had a cameo as Hufflepuff student Susan Bones in the Sorting Hat scene, were exempt from Rowling’s rule against non-British actors. We can see why they implemented the rule, adding to the authenticity of the film.
