Chris Columbus was so taken with Daniel Radcliffe’s performance in David Copperfield (1999) that he asked the casting director if he might cast him in another film. Daniel’s parents wanted him to concentrate on education rather than performing, thus this plan was shelved. After seeing over 5,000 boys who weren’t quite fit for the part, Warner Bros. approached Daniel’s parents and asked if they could cast him, and they eventually agreed.
Bruce Springsteen Recorded An Original Song For The Movie
To accompany the film, Bruce Springsteen penned and recorded an original song called “I’ll Stand By You.” However, it was finally determined that it did not fit the film’s mood. The song was published as part of the soundtrack for the film Blinded By the Light in 2019 instead.
