Klynn Scales grew up in a challenging neighborhood with her mother and brothers. Although it’s not an area where people typically grow up, Klynn had to deal with it. Klynn’s mother was rarely present because she had to put in long hours to maintain her family and pay the expenses. As a result, Klynn frequently had to care for her brothers in his mother’s absence. For someone who isn’t even an adult yet, that is a lot of responsibility.

When both parents were frequently absent, Klynn took care of her brothers because she was the oldest in the family. She would trek through her dangerous area to the 7-Eleven out of concern that they wouldn’t have enough to eat. Young Klynn stole from stores to buy the necessities in an effort to survive. Though Klynn and her brothers’ story is obviously tragic, it is encouraging to think of their tenacity. They managed to thrive in the face of such hardship because no child should have to grow up in such unfavorable circumstances. For her brothers, Klynn developed into a wonderful mother. She would have done everything for her love, even if it meant sacrificing her health.
