4. Eastern Michigan University: Rynearson Stadium
Ypsilanti, Michigan
There is a running track around the football field in this almost 50-year-old stadium, giving the place a high-school-esque feel. The track can make fans feel far-removed on the gridiron from the action. For Eagles games, Rynearson used to be packed, holding up to 30,000, but those days are long gone. Now, Eastern Michigan is fortunate to have two-thirds of its stadium full, even for big rivalry games.
3. the University of Texas at San Antonio: Alamodome
San Antonio
The 25-year-old Alamodome is massive. It has a capacity of up to 64,000 football supporters, which does not favor the UTSA Roadrunners. Last season, the home opener attracted over 42,000 fans, though that still meant that about a third of the stadium was empty. Having so many empty seats around the stadium leaves much of the game-day atmosphere at the door, no matter how large the turnout.
