She Set High Goals Early On
Anunay had a list of objectives she wished to achieve. “I looked in the mirror once in the firehouse and thought, ‘At the very least, I’m going to resign from this department as a paramedic and a captain,’” the confident woman revealed. And that’s when I decided to start pushing ahead and climbing the corporate ladder.”
When It Comes To Saving Lives
There aren’t many professions that include saving lives. She described saving a life as “humbling.” At the age of 19, she received a call at three a.m. from a high-rise hotel. “You could tell this fire was going to destroy someone’s life. And I remember going up and taking a breath when I saw all the smoke come out. “Let’s bring the ladder up,” my officer said, and then I saw someone carrying a baby out the window, and then I’m holding the baby—who is still alive but has had over 80% of his body burned,” Anunay explained. “I felt like I was giving a persuasive speech. I’m glad I was able to get them out of the situation. But then I’m like, ‘What’s the end of this baby’s story?’”
