Educational Purposes
After looking more closely at their surroundings, the school staff realized what they were standing in: an underground bomb shelter. Not just any bomb shelter, however. It was an Anderson shelter used by the school’s students during World War II during the air raids. It only makes sense that a school would use such a historical discovery for educational purposes. In all honesty, we’d be surprised if they didn’t.
Rich History
That’s exactly what the school ended up doing. With the help of the students, the school restored the shelter to its former glory. This allowed the students to get hands-on lessons about the Second World War and what happened in their country all the while. It truly was a unique experience. Anita Meggs, the school principal, reported, “There is so much history in the school, which has been here since the 1800s.”
