Pleasant Rowland formed the Pleasant Company, the company that created these dolls, in 1998. These items were once exclusively accessible through mail order. Mattel acquired the brand in 1998 and expanded the reach of the toys for the broader public. A rise in demand triggered an increase in supply. The dolls are still created in Germany, even though the books are still made in Wisconsin. Their accessories, on the other hand, are created in China and delivered to Wisconsin, where they are assembled.
