The purchase of a fifth of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Proton Therapy Center by a Beijing-based company called Concord Medical services perplexed many people in 2012. Even though the university’s ownership stakes were not affected, the Chinese company’s profile was raised as a result of the deal.
