After winning the Spirit of Abstinence Award in 2015 for achieving 25 years of sobriety, the actor credits his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, for a large part of his success in the industry. Lowe addressed this problem directly in his victory speech. “She was the driving force behind my decision to seek sobriety. She’s put up with my flaws in character, as they’re known in the business. If you’re fortunate enough to have been sober for as long as I have, the lessons will continue to come.”
