John F. Kennedy And His Brother Robert F. Kennedy At The Democratic National Convention
We are confident that the majority of people would agree that the most notable Democrat National Convention took place in July 1960 in Chicago. Senator John F. Kennedy was nominated for the Democratic nomination largely as a result of the effort done by his brother, who served as campaign manager. Kennedy was chosen for the position because of his outgoing demeanor and contagious attitude. In the video below, we see JFK telling Robert about his choice for Vice President. John Loengard, the photographer, explained his motivation: “I was working on a piece about Bobby Kennedy.” We walked up to Jack’s room the morning after he was nominated for the award. A very quiet conversation ensued between the brothers, and Jack informed Bobby that he would not be selecting [labor union leader] Walter Reuther as Vice President…. I stood outside, waiting for Bobby to emerge. He was enraged when he realized what he had done. We were coming back down the stairs when Bobby started striking his hand like this, repeating ‘Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t.’ I asked him what he was saying. You should know that he was a big fan of [Lyndon] Johnson.”
It Was Princess Elizabeth’s Desire To Contribute To The War Effort
It was the height of World War II, and everyone was filled with patriotic zeal, eager to contribute to the war effort. Even Princess Elizabeth is not exempt from this rule! She nags her father, the King until he agrees to let her assist in the rescue effort. Following the completion of her 18th birthday, she was granted the clearance she required to train as a truck driver and mechanic with the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service. Considering that she is now the Queen of the United Kingdom (as well as other territories), we think it is fantastic that she wished so strongly to personally assist her country back then.
