In Real Life, Lawrence Of Arabia
As a result of the Great War, Lawrence found himself in an unexpected situation. Coll was a British demolition artist who collaborated with Arab rebel friends to demolish isolated Ottoman bridges during World War II. He was known as Lawrence of Arabia. His assaults on 79 bridges on the railway were carried out in order to dismantle and rebuild them. The railways were severely destroyed, and certain sections of them still bear the signs of their presence. In lieu of making an effort to demolish the structures, the Turkish military chose to leave them in place instead.
