According to the company, the water is sourced from an artesian aquifer on the island of Viti Levu, where it is filtered through volcanic rock and picks up plenty of minerals and electrolytes to enhance the flavor. It would have received a higher rating if that square bottle had fit in any cup holder at any time in history. In 2006, Fiji Water ran an advertisement that stated, “The label says Fiji because it isn’t bottled in Cleveland.” The city’s water department took it personally and conducted tests in which a bottle of Fiji water was compared to Cleveland tap water, with positive results. The results of the test revealed that the bottle of Fiji Water contained more contaminants than the tap water from the city.
