Camden’s Promise
At the outset of the events, it was clear that Darreld’s health was having a big impact on Camden. The small kid was happy and cheerful once more, having regained much of his health and vigor. He was able to relax now that he knew his father would be there for the long term. Camden would be eternally thankful to Nancy and vowed to her that he would be the finest student ever. He had done everything he could to repay her, but her family had other plans.

Raising Awareness
Nancy and Darreld had discussed what they might do to increase awareness about organ donation when they had both recovered. There aren’t nearly enough alternatives for individuals in need, so they turned to the University of Iowa Transplant Center for help. The media was present to show their support for the couple. At this point, the entire matter had attracted a lot of attention, and many people were rallying behind both the family and the instructor.
