Realization
On one particular day in Australia, Clapton was alone in his hotel room. He was alone with his thoughts, his agony, and his sorrow. He realized he needed to return for treatment, not only for himself but also for Conor, at this time. He wished for a positive relationship with his son, one in which they could bond rather than one in which he was preoccupied with his next drink.

While it felt familiar in the sense that he was returning to face his drinking demons, there were numerous differences this time. He was totally aware this time, whereas he may have had concerns about what had led him there the previous time. He tried but failed to control his drinking. He required both aid and a substantial change in his life.
