Service dogs will normally go on duty with several cops, but Kyle wouldn’t react to others the way he did to Officer John. The two made a wonderful team and shared a special bond. John adopted Kyle, but both were in constant service.

Parting Ways
When Kyle’s time on the force finally ended, John wanted to keep him, but he couldn’t take care of him since he was on patrol. He decided to do what was right for the puppy, so he had the Smiths rescue him. Officer John, however, definitely felt sorry to be away from his partner.
