Women of the WWE In Real Life, How They Look and What They Do Outside the Ring

Women’s role in the WWE has evolved massively since the early days of The Fabulous Moolah, Judy Grable, and Wendi Richter. In the beginning, fans would be lucky if one match between women was included in an event. It was in the 1990s when the WWF instated its Women’s Championship permanently. During this era partially due to the popularity of Sable, Madusa, Marlena, Chyna and Luna Vachon the term “Diva” was introduced. It is now used to apply to all women in the WWE no matter their role. Women now are wrestlers, managers, backstage interviewers and ring announcers. Back in the 80s and 80s women wrestled but were often also marketing in a suggestive way and their athleticism was limited on camera. During the “Attitude Era” in the late 90s and early 2000s women such as Chyna, Lita, and Trish Stratus gained respect and changes the role of women in the industry. As time went on women took a bigger and bigger role. The WWF became the WWE and hired more and more women who gained a large fan base. In 2008 the annual WWE Diva Search and Divas Championship was introduced. Amazingly, just this year the first Women’s Royal Rumble Match occurred and a number of Divas from the past came out of retirement to compete. Besides gaining more camera time and having more women events in the main lineup, many of the Divas have their own reality TV shows, businesses, are involved in charities, and pursue other career ventures. Torrie Wilson is a former fitness model, which made her a great candidate for the WWE. She was a Diva for 7 years and played a variety of roles. Her most famous match was against Sable in 2002. It became one of the most downloaded matches ever! Since Torrie retired in 2009, she has made several appearances in the WWE. Most recently she appeared in the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw in a segment honoring women. Outside of the WWE, she runs a lifestyle and fitness website.

Bull Nakano

Native to Japan, Bull Nakano gained a reputation there before she made her WWE debut in 1994. Her main goal was to win the Women’s Championship, and she did! Despite this, surprisingly, a few months later she was no longer performing in the WWE.

She officially retired from professional wrestling in 1997 to pursue golf. After many years she made it to the LPGA.

Kelly Kelly

Kelly Kelly joined the WWE in 2006. She definitely had a unique character and often performed stripteases in a special segment. She won the WWE Diva Championship in 2011 and retired the following year. She recently made a comeback to attend the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble.

Outside of the wrestling world, she is a model and a cast member on the reality series WAGS LA.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline was the foil to Sable in the late 90s, playing an evil villain. In 2004 she won the Cruisterweight Championship and was the third woman ever to have this title. After this big victory, she continued with the WWF as a manager.

She was the first African American woman to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. Pretty awesome! After she retired from the WWE she pursued acting. She made an appearance for the Women’s Royal Rumble but was defeated by Nia Jax.

Rosa Mendes

Rosa Mendes competed in the WWE Diva search, made it to the top 8, but was eliminated. Despite this, the WWE still offered her a contract and she performed under the name Roucka. She retired in early 2017.

She married a clothing designer and musician named Bobby Schubenski and they have one child together. She owns and operated a fitness and lifestyle website called “Totally Fit Mama.”

Beth Phoenix

Beth Phoenix is well known for being one tough lady. During her wrestling debut, she broke her jaw but it didn’t stop her. She went on to win 3 women’s championships and impressively was the second woman to compete in the Royal Rumble. She retired from wrestling in 2012.

In 2017 she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and is the youngest person to be honored. She also came out of retirement to compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble making her the only wrestler to compete in both the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble. She is currently married to fellow wrestler Andrew Copeland or “Edge.”

Paige

Paige comes from a family of wrestlers and it is no wonder why she is so successful in the WWE! She was first signed in 2011 and began to wrestle in 2014. She quickly won her first Diva Championship that year. She was only 21 so this made her the youngest titleholder in WWE history.

Paige is one of the more controversial Diva’s. She was suspended twice for violating the WWE’s wellness policy. The WWE released a statement that she tested positive for an illegal substance, but Paige denies this accusation. She is still wrestling and made her initial return in 2017 as a member of “Absolution.”

Melina

Melina first joined the WWE in 2004 to manage the tag team duo MNM. The team won three championships. She made her individual wrestling debut in 2005 and went on to win three Women’s Championships and two Divas Championships!

She retired from 2012-2015, made some appearances, and then officially left for good in 2016. She currently is a blogger and is traveling around the USA making public appearances.

Michelle McCool

Michelle McCool made WWE history as she is the first woman to win both a Divas and Women’s Championship. She is known for being extra tough inside and outside the ring.

She has been retired for a few years now, but sometimes attends events as a fan to cheer on her husband, “The Undertaker.” Outside of the wrestling world, she is a mother, wife and is a devout Christian.

Mickie James

Mickie James worked in independent circuits for years until she was finally signed to the WWE in 2005. She went on to win 5 Women’s Championships and one Divas Championship. Outside of the wrestling world, she is a country music singer.

She has released two albums, the most recent was in January of 2018. She now spends her time making music, raising her children, and managing her family ranch.

Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie is the daughter of the WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon. She wrestled in the early 90s, and sporadically between 2001-2007.

In 2008 she became the Raw brand General Manager. Now she is the CBO for all of the WWE. She is currently married to fellow wrestling superstar, Triple H.

Wendi Richter

Wendi Richter was signed to the WWE in 1983 and earned a championship in 1984.

She lost the championship in 1985 to her main rival, The Fabulous Moolah. After retiring from the WWE she wrestled on independent circuits for a while before retiring for good. She now works as a physical therapist.

Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks joined the WWE in 2014. She went on to win the Women’s Championship 4 times! She has a very famous 1st cousin: Snoop Dogg. He influenced her stage persona which is part of why she is so popular.

Snoop Dogg made a few WWE appearances since she joined the organization. In 2016 she married a former wrestler, Kid Mikaze, who is currently a costume designer for the organization.

Trish Stratus

Before joining the WWE, Trish was a successful fitness model. She started her wrestling career as a manager, and went on to be one of the most successful Diva’s ever! She won 7 WWE Women’s Championships.

She appeared less since 2007 in WWE events, and most recently she appeared in the Women’s Royal Rumble. She owns and operates a yoga studio called Stratussphere in Canada. She opened it in 2008.

Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella was signed with the WWE in 2007 along with her twin sister Brie. Together they performed together under the name “The Bella Twins.” She wrestled independently in 2008 and won the Diva’s Championship two times.

She was famously engaged to fellow wrestler John Cena, and they were planning a destination wedding in Mexico. They recently announced they are separating. A large portion of their breakup will be featured on the reality show Total Bellas. Outside of the WWE, she operates a lifestyle and active-wear brand with her sister called Birdiebee.

Lita

Lita signed with the WWE in 1999 and began her career as a duo parring with Essa Rios. She went on to become a single’s wrestler and won an impressive four Women’s Championships! She officially retired in 2007 to pursue music. She performed with the punk rock band “The Luchagors” for many years.

In 2015 she returned to the WWE to be a trainer on the reality series Tough Enough and is a full-time creative writer. She has hinted on social media she might be planning a return to the ring soon. We certainly hope she does!

Alexa Bliss

Before becoming a wrestler, Alexa Bliss was a bodybuilder. She began her career in the WWE NXT brand and was drafted into the SmackDown brand in 2016.

She was quickly named SmackDown Women’s Champion and was then drafted into the Raw brand in 2017. She currently hold’s the record for the longest reigning Women’s Champion of all time and is engaged to fellow wrestler, Buddy Murphy.

Asuka

Asuka began wrestling in Japan in 2004 and joined the WWE in 2015. She is known for having one of the longest streaks of being undefeated in the industry.

She is still wrestling, and most recently she won the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble. She is also very talented outside of the ring. She works as a writer, graphic designer and also owns her own hair salon.

Alicia Fox

Alicia Fox made her debut as the Edge and Vickie Guerroro’s wedding planner in 2008 and then managed DJ Gabriel.

She started competing in 2009 and went on to become the first African American Divas Champion in 2010. She, unfortunately, could not compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble due to a tailbone injury. Outside of wrestling, she works as a philanthropist.

Alundra Blayze

Aluna Blayze or “Madusa” began wrestling in the early 80s. She joined the WWF in 1993. She famously threw her WWF Women’s Championship belt in the trash causing her to be suspended from competing for 20 years.

In 2015 she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. When she was inducted a trashcan was brought on stage where she was shown pulling it out. Outside of the WWE, she competes in the world of Monster Trucks.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch had a rocky start to her career. She first competed in independent circuits in Europe but suffered a brain injury in 2006. She was unable to return to wrestling until 2011, and she signed a contract with the WWE in 2013.

In 2016 she became the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion. Outside of the ring she loves acting and has worked as a stunt woman for various movies.

Eve Torres

Before the WWE, Eve Torres was a member of the L.A. Clippers Spirit Dance Team. She competed in the 2007 Diva Search and won!

She immediately found success in the ring and in 2010 she took the Diva’s Championship. She retired in 2013 and is now working as a jiu-jitsu teacher and as an actress.

Layla

Before becoming a WWE Diva, Layla worked as a dancer on Carnival Cruise ships, in the Miami Heat dance squad, and in a Kanye West performance.

She participated in and won the WWE Diva Search in 2006. In 2012 she made history becoming the first British woman to win the WWE Divas Championship. She retired in 2015 and married Ricky Ortiz. She currently works as a real estate agent in Arizona.

Maryse

Previously a model, Maryse competed in the 2006 Diva Search but was unsuccessful. She still was able to secure a contract with the WWE. She was the first wrestler to win the WWE Diva’s Championship twice. She retired from wrestling in 2012, but recently made a comeback to manage her husband, “The Miz.”

She helped him to take the Intercontinental Championship. Together the couple have their own reality show called “Miz & Mrs.”

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey is awesome! She is the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in Judo. Due to her martial arts background, it was easy for to transition into professional MMA fighting.

She won the UFC Women’s Bantaweight Championship and then began making some appearances in the WWE. It was announced at the Women’s Rumble she would be joining the WWE full time.

Sable

Sable is a groundbreaking Diva. She was one of the first in the industry and was always extremely popular. She left the company in the late 90s and filed a lawsuit for sexual harassment.

It was settled outside of court. She returned from 2003-2004 and married fellow wrestler Brock Lesnar in 2006. They are still married, have two sons together, and live on a family farm in Canada.

Chyna

Chyna joined the WWF in 1997 and was called the “Ninth Wonder of the World.” She is the only female to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice. She also won the WWF Women’s Championship. She left the WWF in 2001 and wrestled with the New Japan Pro Wrestling company and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Outside of the ring, Chyna appeared in Playboy magazine and worked as an actress.

She also faced controversy in her personal life when a sex tape made with fellow wrestler Sean Waltman was released in 2004. She continued to have a career in pornography and made 5 other films. Sadly in 2016, she was found dead at her home in California when she was only 46 years old. The cause of death is a drug and alcohol overdose.

Nia Jax

Native to Australia and cousins with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Nia Jax signed with the WWE in 2014. She started by working with NXT to develop her wrestling skills. She premiered in 2015 under the name of Zada, and her name was later changed to Nia Jax.

In 2016 she was drafted to the Raw brand and began an amazing winning streak. She currently is the Raw Women’s Champion, which is the first title she won in her career.

Carmella

Previously a Laker Girl, Carmella signed a contract with the WWE in 2003. She first worked under NXT to develop her skills in Florida. She premiered in SmackDown in 2016, and is currently the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion.

While she is still wrestling, outside of the ring she pursues dancing and is a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer.

Bayley

Bayley has a long history of loving wrestling. As a child, she attended Big Time Wrestling shows in California. She started training when she was 18 years old and was active on the independent circuit. She signed a contract in 2012 and premiered in NXT events in late 2013.

She premiered on Raw in 2016 under the management of Mick Foley. She took the Raw title in 2017. Most recently, she competing in WrestleMania 34 where she took 3rd place in the first ever Women’s Battle Royal.

Billie Kay

Billie Kay was born in Austrailia and began wrestling professionally in 2007 at the Pro Wrestling Alliance. She then competing in the Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance where she was champion twice. She then competed on the independent circuit around the United States for a few years. When the WWE were on tour in Australia, she was invited to audition. She secured a contract in 2015 and began training with NXT. She debuted on television later that year. In 2016 she made her Smackdown debut.

In late 2016 she formed an alliance with Peyton Rice and they perform together as “The Iconic Duo.” They actually went to the same high school in Australia and have been lifelong friends. As of 2018 the duo is now called “The IIconics” and is still actively competing.

Cathy Kelley

Cathy was born in Oak Park, Illinois. She started life in the limelight as a host and panelist on Maria Menounos’ online network show AfterBuzz.

She was signed to the WWE in 2016 and works as a correspondent. Outside of the ring, she is an active member of Mensa International.

Charlotte Flair

Charolette is the daughter of the famous wrestler, Ric Flair. She appeared alongside her father in the ring as a teenager. She started to train in 2012, debuting in NXT in 2013. Soon after she won the NXT Women’s Championship. She made her first appearance on the main roster in 2015.

Soon after won the Divas Championship, and was the first WWE Women’s Champion in 2016. Now she is a 7-time women’s champion! Not too bad, huh? Outside of the ring, she is a published author and an actress.

Charly Caruso

Charly Caruso is an on-air personality for WWE and NXT. She got her start doing news reporting on sports in Indiana.

She has been working with the WWE since 2016 covering some of the most controversial moments in the ring and backstage. Outside of the ring she loves stand up comedy, plays flag football, and loves to work out.

Dasha Fuentes

Dasha was born in Florida and competed in many Miss America pageants. She won many titles including Miss UCF and Miss Volusia County.

She signed a contract with the WWE in 2014. She began wrestling in NXT events. In 2015 she became a backstage interviewer for NXT, leading her to become a ring announcer for the brand. Outside of the wrestling community, Dasha works as a fitness model.

Ember Moon

Ember Moon got her start with SHIMMER Women Athletes appearing under the name Athena. She then debuted in Women Superstars Uncensored in 2014 and went on to work for Women Superstars Uncensored, and Shine Wrestling until 2015.

Later that year she signed a contract with the WWE and started to fight in NXT events. She won the NXT Women’s Championship in 2017, and the next night made her first appearance in the main roster by competing in the Women’s Royal Rumble. She took 23rd place and was eliminated by Asuka. She is still actively wrestling and performing in Raw events. She is currently engaged to fellow professional wrestler, Matthew Palmer.

JoJo

JoJo was on the cast of Total Divas in 2013. When she was only 19 years old she made her premiere in the ring. She later worked as a ring announcer for NXT and was then promoted to be a regular ring announcer for the Main Event and SmackDown.

She is the official announcer and does backstage interviews. She decided not to join Total Diva’s second season.

Zelina Vega

Native to Queens, New York, Zelina Vega grew up watching wrestling with her family. She said it was because of her father she entered the wrestling business. He, unfortunately, was a victim during the September 11 terrorist attack. She started training when she was 17 and began her professional wrestling career in the National Wrestling Superstars in 2010.

She then performed in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and on the independent circuit before getting picked up by the WWE in 2013. She started appearing in NXT events in 2017, and in Smackdown in 2018. Outside of the wrestling world, she participates in many charitable causes including Habitat For Humanity and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. She also is an actress and will be featured in the upcoming film Fighting with My Family.

Tamina

Daughter of hall of famer Jimmy Snuka, Tamina began training in Florida after receiving the Lia Maivia Scholarship. She premiered in 2010 on Raw playing a villain. In 2011 she was drafted to SmackDown. She was forced to take a break after sustaining a back injury during a match but returned as AJ Lee’s bodyguard in 2013. She returned to wrestling and then injured her ACL severely.

She underwent surgery and took a long break before returning to Raw. She participated in the Women’s Royal Rumble and placed 7th. She was again injured and underwent another surgery. Outside of the ring she is a mother of two and an actress. She voiced a character in the Disney movie Hercules.

Sonya Deville

Sonya is from New Jersey and began to train at age 17 to participate in MMA events. In 2015 she competed in the sixth season of Tough Enough but was the third person to be eliminated. In October 2015 she signed a contract with the WWE and began to perform in NXT events.

She then became part of the trio “Absolution” and fought on Raw. In 2018 she was drafted to SmackDown. Outside of the ring, she co-hosts on AfterBuzz which is a YouTube show covering UFC matches. She is also the WWE’s first open lesbian performer.

Sarah Logan

Sarah began her wrestling career in 2011 on the independent circuit. She made some early appearances in 2014 on Raw as the makeup artist for “The Miz.” She had other non-speaking roles in 2015. In 2016 the WWE signed her to a developmental contract.

She made her NXT debut in 2017 performing under her real name. She then made her Smackdown debut as part of the trio “The Riot Squad” along with Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan. The trio was drafted to Raw. She is currently engaged to fellow wrestler Raymond Rowe.

Ruby Riott

Before becoming the leader of the trio “The Riot Squad,” Ruby performed under the ring name “Heidi Lovelance” on the independent circuit.

She was signed to NXT and the trio was picked up by Raw in 2017.

Renee Young

Renee Young is from Canada and started her career as a sports broadcaster and actress. Currently, she is an on-air personality for the WWE.

She conducts interviews and comments. Outside of the ring, she is married wrestler Jonathon Good.

Peyton Royce

Peyton Royce is from Austrailia and made her debut fighting on the independent circuit.

She currently is signed to the WWE and performing for the Smackdown brand.

Bess Katramados

Bess is well known for being the former wife of WWE Superstar, “The Big Show.” She is from Illinois and was formerly a model. After her marriage to the Big Show in February of 2002, she spends her time as a homemaker, promoter, and personal trainer.

She was featured on the WWE quite a few times to introduce her husband. She was also spotted at nearly every one of his matches to support him.

Stacy Keibler

Stevy Keibler began her wrestling career as part of the Nitro Girls in the WCW. She previously worked as an NFL cheerleader. She was signed by the WWE in 2001 and was called “Super Stacy.” She left the WWE in 2006 but has made some special appearances since then.

These days she is an actress, dancer, and model. She hosted a Lifetime Show called Supermarket Superstar in 2013. She is married to Future Ads CEO Jared Lobre. They have one daughter together named Ava.

Natalya

Natalya is a third-generation wrestler! She comes from the famous Hart family. She is the daughter of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, and her uncles are Ross and Bruce Hart. She was trained in the Hart family “Dungeon” and is the first woman to do so. Because of this, she is known for being one of the toughest women ever!

She won the Divas Title in 2010 and also won the Woman’s Championship in 2017. She began dating TJ Wilson in 2001 and they were married in 2013. The wedding was featured on the first season of Total Divas.

Naomi

Naomi was a dancer for the Orlando Magic before she joined the WWE. She first competed on WWE NXT but was eliminated in the final week. She first performed as part of The Funkadactyls before she participated in singles events.

She appeared on the reality show Total Divas and has now won the Women’s Championship twice! Outside of the ring, she is an actress, model, dancer, and singer. She has danced in quite a few hip-hop music videos. She is married to fellow wrestler Jimmy Uso.

Maria Kanellis

Maria Kanellis is a former beauty queen. She participated in the 2004 Diva Search and came close to winning, but unfortunately lost. She still began to work as a Raw backstage interviewer and eventually started to fight in the ring in 2005. Aside from the wrestling world, she is a singer, actress, model, and entrepreneur.

In March 2011 she launched her own perfume line called Signature. She also has her own podcast, event design company, and released her first album called Seven Sins in 2010. She is currently married to fellow wrestler Mike Bennett and they have one child together.

Mandy Rose

Mandy Rose is an incredibly strong wrestler. In 2015, she placed second in the WWE competition Tough Enough. She then signed a contract with WWE and joined the case of Total Divas. She debuted on Raw as part of Absolution with Paige and Sonya Deville.

She is currently wrestling but the future of Absolution is unclear. She loves yoga, pilates, and Crossfit. She lives with her best friend, fellow WWE superstar Sonya Deville.

Liv Morgan

Liv Morgan grew up dreaming of becoming a Superstar. She would wrestle against her brothers in a ring in their childhood home in New Jersey. Before she joined the WWE she was a competitive cheerleader. She became known in the wrestling world after appearing on NXT.

She debuted last year on SmackDown Live alongside Roby Riott and Sarah Logan. Together they are The Riott Squad. She famously dated fellow wrestler Enzo Amore but it ended after there were rumors of him cheating. Now she is dating former UK wrestling champion, Tyler Bate.

Lana

Lana is from a wealthy Russian family and grew up in Latvia and Gainesville, Florida. She attended Florida State for college. She made her wrestling debut at the 2014 Royal Rumble where she managed and was the social ambassador to Alexander Rusev.

In 2017 she started competing individually. In her personal life, she pursues acting, dancing, modeling, and singing. In 2009 she was a part of a girl group under Ne-Yo’s record label. They released 3 singles before they disbanded in 2010. She also has worked as a backup dancer for Pink, Usher, and Keri Kilson. Pretty cool!

Dana Brooke

Dana Brooke was a fitness competitor before she became a wrestler. She joined NXT in 2013 and made her television debut in 2015. She made history because she was the first WWE superstar to win the Fitness International competition at the 2015 Arnold Sports Festival.

She is still performing in Raw and pursues bodybuilding and fitness competitions in her free time.

Brie Bella

Brie is one-half of the Bella Twins along with her sister Nikki. She debuted on SmackDown in 2008. She and her sister became very famous after appearing on the E! reality show Total Divas. she won the WWE Divas Championship one time and currently serves as an ambassador for the company. I

n her personal life, she is an actress, businesswoman, model and YouTuber. She is married to fellow professional wrestler Bryan Danielson. They have a daughter together named Birdie Joe.

Cora Combs

Cora Combs is a legend! She was a country music singer before she began wrestling.

She competed as “Lady Satan” and famously fought her own daughter. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

Eva Marie

Eva is a model turned professional wrestler. She first appeared on Total Divas and signed a contract in 2013 with the WWE. She appeared on the main roster that same year and managed The Bella Twins.

Outside of the ring, she is an actress, fashion designer, and fitness model. She retired from wrestling mostly to pursue acting. Her first film is Inconceivable and was released in 2017.

Judy Grable

Judy Grable was a student of The Fabulous Moolah. She famously competed without boots and was the first woman Moolah defeated when she became the first Women’s Champion.

She never won a championship on her own but she is of course in the WWE Hall of Hame. She inspired many women to pursue wrestling.

June Byers

June Byers was one of the first women wrestling legends. She wrestled in the 50s and 60s. Her claim to fame is the held the Women’s World Championship for 10 years and is in the Wrestling Hall of Fame. A

fter she retired from wrestling she moved to Texas and became a real estate agent. She died of pneumonia in 1998.

Sensational Sherri

Sherri began her career in the AWA in the early 80s. She won the championship in 1985.

In 1987 she debuted in the WWE and won the Women’s Championship! In the later 90s, she managed different male wrestlers including “Macho Man” Randy Savage. She is in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Vickie Guerrero

Vickie Guerrero is the widow of Eddie Guerrero. She joined the WWE in 2007 as a general manager of both Smackdown and Raw.

She took a break and returned in 2009 to act as an official consultant. She had a storyline that caused her to fight Stephanie McMahon, and she was released from her duties.

Candice Michelle

Candice Mille moved to LA to become an actress and model. She had some success and tried out in the 2004 Diva Search. She didn’t win but still secured a Raw contract. She defeated Melina in 2007 to take the Women’s Championship.

She was the first Diva Search contestant to win the title. Due to many injuries, she retired in 2009. She is married to a chiropractor named Ken Gee Ehrlich and they have three daughters together.

AJ Lee

AJ Lee competed in the third season of WWE NXT. She took third place. She debuted in SmackDown in 2011. She was romantically involved with many Superstars including CM Punk, Kane and John Cena. She was temporarily Raw’s General Manager before returning to wrestling on her own.

She won a Divas Battle Royal to take the Divas Title for 295 days. During her entire career, she won the title 3 times! Since retiring from the WWE she is focusing on writing. Her memoir was released in 2017 and was a New York Times Best Seller.

The Fabulous Moolah

The Fabulous Moolah is legendary. She was one of the first women wrestlers ever! She won the NWA World Women’s Championship in 1956 and held the title for 28 years! She joined the WWF in the 80s and 90s.

She was the first woman inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995 and became the oldest champion in history when she won the WWF Women’s Championship when she was 76 years old in 1999. After she retired she shared her home and mentored many female wrestlers. She died at the age of 84 in 2007 at her home in South Carolina.

Mae Young

Mae Young is another legend. She joined the WWF in 1999 and had a reoccurring comedic role with her best friend, The Fabulous Moolah. After retiring she moved to California to become a Christain evangelist and take care of her sick mother.

She lived with The Fabulous Moolah in South Carolina until Moolah’s death. She is in the WWE Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Mae Young died in 2014 in South Carolina.

Kia Stevens

Kia appeared in the WWE as “Kharma.” She began wrestling in 2002 after appearing on a reality TV series. She wrestled in Japan for 5 years and then moved to fight in the USA in 2006.

During her career, she won the Women’s Championship 5 times! Since retirement, she has pursued acting. Her most notable role is as Tammé “The Welfare Queen” Dawson in the Netflix series GLOW.
