Tiger Woods and golf are virtually synonymous. He’s a golfing master that took the world through smooth and clear fairways, and down into the depths of the darkest sand bunkers. Woods made us love him and admire him, and then, just like that, he made us loathe him. He’s been on the wrong side of the law, in the wrong bed and sometimes on the wrong foot. But Tiger Woods is a man who personifies determination. He has recognized his sins, and he has paid for them. Now Tiger Woods looks to be making a comeback.
It was the end of the summer in 1996 that Tiger Woods at age 20, turned to professional golf. It didn’t take long for the golfing world to realize the greatness that he was. By April 1997, he had already swept up three PGA Tour titles. By June 1997, Woods raced his way up to the rank of number one in the world; he hadn’t even been playing gold professionally for a year yet. Tiger Woods was to become a name that spelled out golf.
Building An Impressive Record
Throughout his career, Woods took first place in most championships that he participated in. By number, he is ranked in second place for the most PGA Tour wins with 79 titles. He has won the Masters Tournament four times, the U.S. Open three times, the Open Championship three times, and PGA Championship four times.
Infidelity And Entitlement
His marriage to Swedish model, Elin Nordegren went into a downward spiral in 2009, and Woods took a hiatus from golf to work on their relationship. Later the world would be exposed to a side of their golf idol that they never wished to see. It came to light that he had been having extramarital affairs with numerous women, some of which included: Rachel Uchitel, Kalika Moquin, Cori Rist, Holly Sampson and Jaimee Grubbs. These affairs eventually cost him his marriage. He admitted his wrongdoings, and even offered an apology: “I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to,” he said. “I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn’t have to go far to find them. I was wrong. I was foolish.”
After his marriage ended, he faced some more trouble when was arrested for an alleged DUI in May 2017. He had already suffered from a fall in his career, his popularity and his physical condition. Tiger Woods suffered back injury and even underwent surgery that he feared would permanently remove him from playing golf on a professional level.
