Daisy, Mrs. Johnson’s horse, immediately caught her attention as being different. She had unusual behavior, being restless and anxious. Mrs. Johnson had observed similar behavior before, but only in laboring horses, which was odd because Daisy had never displayed any pregnancy symptoms. However, it became obvious that Daisy was indeed in labor as her behavior continued to deteriorate. The foal was ultimately born, shocking everyone, but not for the reason you might expect.
The Foal
The foal’s head and front legs finally out after one last push. Daisy licked her foal clean and appeared satisfied with everything that had happened until the remainder of the body arrived shortly after. But she was surrounded by total quiet. Everyone gasped as they stared at the foal. Nobody anticipated it to seem this way…
